Meet the Founder

From South American Horizons to Midwest Craftsmanship:

The Story of Sara"I am a naturally restless, active, and passionate soul. I thrive in creation, I embrace working under pressure, and it is in the absolute dedication to my crafts where I feel most alive." — Sara, Founder of LÚMINA

My journey with this art began in 2020 during the global lockdown. In the quiet of those days, I started experimenting with concrete formulation in my home country, exploring a completely new world with deep curiosity and passion. Eventually, life called me to focus entirely on my other great passion: travel. Through my company, PEVITOURS, I have spent years curating and organizing unique, life-changing travel experiences throughout South America.

Our American story officially began when we moved to Miami, where I initially set up the foundations of this creative path. However, as a proud family on the move due to my husband's corporate relocations across different states, our studio has found its new home. Today, in 2026, I create and pour each piece from the beautiful, welcoming city of Columbia, Missouri. After diving deep into the technical chemistry of concrete mixing and mastering the delicate art of luxury candle-making—through countless trials, errors, and breakthroughs—I finally reached the perfect equilibrium: unique pieces that masterfully combine texture, aroma, and soul.

The Aesthetic: Bold, Modern, Minimalist

Every LÚMINA creation reflects a contemporary, minimalist philosophy. Featuring clean architectural lines and a timeless aesthetic, our pieces are designed to bring elegance and deep serenity to any contemporary space. These are items with true character, crafted to complement the beauty of simplicity and highlight the perfect harmony between form and function.

A Family-Backed Vision

This studio is a labor of love, and I am profoundly grateful to my husband, my children, and my daughters-in-law for constantly motivating me to pursue this second grand source of inspiration as we build our home in every new destination.

Today, I am proud to unite my two worlds—the expansive beauty of travel and the grounding touch of art—to share with you unique home essentials made with love, intent, and purpose. I truly hope you enjoy having these pieces in your sanctuary as much as I enjoy creating them for you.

Behind the Craft

The Artisanal Process

Handcrafted Concrete

Each concrete vessel is mixed and poured by hand in our studio. Natural textures and subtle variations give every piece its own character.

Small-Batch Candles

Our candles are hand-poured in small batches with care and attention to detail. Each one brings together fragrance and sculptural design for everyday rituals.

Thoughtfully Packed

Every order is carefully packed to protect your pieces on their journey. Thoughtful finishing touches make receiving your LÚMINA order part of the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some products have small bubbles or color variations?

Each concrete piece is individually hand-poured. Subtle color variations, textures, and small air pockets are natural characteristics of the process, making every piece uniquely, perfectly imperfect.

Will the concrete vessels scratch my furniture?

Our concrete vessels and trays are finished with an anti-slip cork base to help protect surfaces. Always place them on a stable, heat-resistant surface and take extra care with delicate furniture finishes.

What kind of wax and wicks do you use?

We use 100% natural soy wax, paired with hardwood or cotton wicks depending on the candle. Hardwood wicks offer a gentle crackle, while cotton wicks provide a quieter burning experience.

Are your fragrances suitable for homes with pets and children?

Our fragrances comply with IFRA standards for their intended use. However, individual sensitivities vary, and this does not guarantee safety for every person or pet. Use candles in a well-ventilated space, keep them out of reach of children and pets, and consult your veterinarian about fragrance use around your animals.

How can I give my concrete vessel a second life?

Stop burning your candle when approximately 1/4 inch of wax remains. Let the vessel cool completely before gently removing the remaining wax and cleaning it with warm, soapy water. Never pour wax down the drain. Once clean and dry, your vessel can become a jewelry dish, desktop organizer, or decorative planter with a separate inner pot.

What is the first-burn rule?

On the first burn, allow the melted wax to reach close to the edges, following the care instructions supplied with your candle. This helps reduce tunneling and encourages an even burn. Never exceed the recommended burn time or leave a burning candle unattended.

How do I maintain the hardwood wick?

Before each burn, let the candle cool completely and trim away the charred portion of the wick, leaving approximately 1/8 inch. Remove any loose debris before lighting and follow the care instructions supplied with your candle.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Orders are typically prepared within 2–3 business days. Shipping transit time is additional and depends on the delivery option selected at checkout. You’ll receive an order confirmation and a shipping notification once your order is on its way.

What happens if a concrete piece arrives damaged?

If your item arrives chipped or broken, please photograph the item and its packaging and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We’ll gladly arrange a complimentary replacement.
